Contact
us about our special WEE-U Bear
Elementary Classroom Program.
WEE-U
Bear's favorite thing to do is read. You can have a WEEU personality bring WEE-U
Bear to your classroom for some
reading fun with the students.
Our Idea 1 and Idea 2 programs are designed for 3rd
through 5th grade school children. Our Idea 3 program is
designed for high school and college students.
Classroom Options...
Idea 1:
Classroom WEE-U Bear Program. WEEU gives a teacher a WEE-U
Bear. The teacher gives the bear to students one a time. Students
take the bear home and use their imagination to engage in an
activity with WEE-U Bear. He "likes" the student to read him
one of their favorite stories. Students could then be assigned
to write a brief description of their activity with the bear; which
story they read to him, what the story was about and how they
enjoyed the experience. Sharing the letters in class is then
used as a classroom activity.
Idea 2:
Members of the WEEU staff come to the school and present a 30 to 45
minute program designed to promote literacy, creativity and
imagination. The usual program includes reading a story,
creating a song and having fun with grammar.
The structure of this program includes
an introduction and question and answer session about WEEU and the
business of radio. WEEU personality reads the class a story
about WEE-U Bear or some other story. Then we create a song
about one of WEE-U Bear's adventures. The grammar fun comes into
play when the children create certain nouns, verbs and adjectives
for filling in to the song lyrics. The hilarious end result
teaches children that reading, songwriting and creativity can be a
fun and effective way to communicate and express one's self.
Our Idea 3
program is for high school and college age students. For this
program, a WEEU employees comes to the classroom and describes the
various jobs that are available in radio broadcasting. Then the WEEU
staff member entertains a question and answer session with the
student. This program lasts from30 to 45 minutes.

WEEU offers limited unpaid internships
to college students requiring internship credits. We also
offer "shadowing" opportunities for high school and college students
wherein the student spends a shift with a WEEU broadcast,
engineering, business office, or sales person, depending on which
area of the business their internship is associated with. If
you are interested in any of these programs, please contact WEEU
Radio at (610) 376-7335.
WEEU Radio Career

the radio industry.
Each session also includes a question
and answer period and some "take-home" materials for
students interested in a career in radio.
This program is designed for students
in the 9th through 12th grade, and college level.
We've visited high schools and
colleges to participate in talking about radio.
