WEEU Week in Review for January 27, 2012

1. A recap of the week’s top news stories including local reaction to the death of longtime Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, Reading City Council will not reopen the 2012 budget despite a request by Mayor Vaughn Spencer, and two teenagers were shot in an attempted robbery on the Thun Trail.

2. Larry Bowa paid a visit to Berks County. The five-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner is now a studio analyst for MLB Network. Bowa has high expectations for the Phillies in 2012. He also looked back at the time he spent playing for the Reading Phillies.

3. WEEU’s Paul Roberts interviewed two of Berks County’s best boys basketball coaches in Berks Catholic’s Snip Esterly and Wilson’s Matt Coldren. You will also hear from Wilson shooting guard Seth Klein.

WEEU Week in Review for January 20, 2012

1. A recap of the week’s top news stories including changes new Reading Mayor Vaughn Spencer wants to make to the budget, five administrators in the Reading School District agreed to stay in their positions after previously announcing they were leaving, and a Heidelberg Township woman was charged with giving her 1-year-old granddaughter a fatal dose of morphine.

2. Berks County Judge Jeffrey Sprecher was a recent guest on WEEU’s Jo Painter show. They discussed his new book “Justice or Just This?” which examines how the sentencing process is controlled by the district attorney’s office and the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing.

3. In Sports, Reading Royals General Manager Mark Wallace told WEEU’s Charlie Adams about some upcoming fundraising events. Wallace also commented on the Royals’ performance on the ice.

WEEU Week in Review for December 2, 2011
